My American Legacy

A Music Literacy Course Centered on Social-Emotional Well Being

“My American Legacy” is the Middle and High-School Teaching Curriculum designed around Common Core State Standards (CCSS) that provides students with education on the impacts and effects of media and art on their personal decision-making efforts, while structuring the outcomes around cultural awareness and literacy.

Our Course Objective is to provide students with an educational course that guides them through a process wherein they are able to discover and analyze the impacts of popular artwork on their current circumstances, while being invigorated by local professional artists who share success stories and provide instruction.  Our curriculum is structured so that students leave the course with knowledge of music and music history as it has developed in the United States.

The second objective is to provide additional resources and support to high-school students in a way that encourages a college-going culture; As such, (upon availability) collegiate interns will work alongside the students as routine visitors to the classroom.  More Information on our College Internship offering, please click here.  Local, national and international artists are partners of Divine America that lead these CCSS-based courses, serving as instructors.  The curriculum is designed with the ability to have core content taught while allowing individual artists to add intangibles that will assist student achievement in the course.
